Why We Built StrangerSpace: A Safe Successor
For years, random chat platforms were popular social hubs. However, many of these legacy services deteriorated due to spam bots, malicious links, and a lack of moderation. We built StrangerSpace to revive the fun of random matching in a secure, modern environment.
The Legacy Problem
Old platforms often felt like a lottery: you had to skip dozens of bots, advertising links, or inappropriate feeds before finding a real person. Furthermore, their outdated network protocols led to high latency, pixelated feeds, and constant disconnections.
The StrangerSpace Solution
We wanted to build a modern, high-fidelity experience. By using WebRTC, we route high-definition video directly between users, bypassing central relays to prevent lag. We also built an interest scoring engine to prioritize matching users with shared hobbies, making conversations more engaging.

StrangerSpace does not store chat history, but we do use a real-time reputation trust model. Users who are reported lose reputation points and are quarantined from the main queue. By prioritizing safety and privacy, we aim to build a sustainable, friendly home for random social discovery.
